Friday Fictioneers is hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields who provides us with a photo prompt. Each week’s challenge is to write a 100-word story inspired by the photo:

Any picture of boats makes me think of old friends, especially one in particular. Had to write something in honor of the old days:

Bobby sat in the cockpit of the “Passionata” rolling a joint. I surveyed the marina where he lived on board his boat.

“Looka that,” I said.

He glanced over his shoulder.

“It’s a rainbow.”

“But it’s so beautiful. Look at it!”

“You seen one, you seen ’em all.” He finished rolling, licked it and stuck it in his mouth. “Where’s my lighter?”

“You really know how to rain on a parade, Bobby.”

“Rainbows are made of rain, aren’t they? So maybe I made this one. Happy, now?”

“I just realized something. You’re kind of a drag when you’re not stoned.”
